India Successfully Tests Hypersonic Vehicle; Joins US, China, and Russia
India on September 7 successfully tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstration Vehicle (HSTDV) and became the 4th such nation after the US, China, and Russia. The hypersonic missile was tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The missile was launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam testing range, formerly known as Wheeler Island, in Balasore, Odisha. HSTDV propels the missiles with six times faster than the speed of the sound.
