India Witnessed World's Maximum Internet Shutdowns In 2020: Report
A report formulated by Access Now revealed that India had experienced the highest number of internet shutdowns in 2020 followed by Venezuela, and Yemen. Surprisingly, of the total 155 government-led internet disruptions witnessed worldwide, India singlehandedly accounted for 109 shutdowns, with 28 complete internet blackouts. The report noted the two-year internet connectivity deprivation in Jammu and Kashmir, besides the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and State government-enabled curfew-style internet blackout during secondary school examinations.
