Indian Apple Growers Join Hands To Stop Iranian Apple 'Smuggling'
To end illegal ‘dumping’ of Iranian apple in India, apple growers of Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Uttarakhand have formed the Hill State Horticulture Forum. Reportedly, the foreign apples are smuggled via Afghanistan, dodging import duties which makes them cost just Rs 40-50/kg when they reach Delhi, severely affecting the market of local producers. Eying to join arhtiyas and other stakeholders, the growers have decided to raise the issue before the Centre as well as state governments.
