Indian Fisherman Dies In Indonesian Prison; Family Suspects Foul Play By Authorities
Indian fisherman Maria Jasindhas (34) who was arrested for allegedly trespassing into the Indonesian waters, has died in an Indonesian prison, due to illness, on May 20. Jasindhas and seven other Indian fishermen were detained by Indonesian authorities on March 7. Jasindhas' brother Jenidas "strongly suspects" foul play in his brother's death. He alleged that the Indonesian authorities administered "some powder" after Jasindhas fell sick, after which his health deteriorated.
