Indian Scientists develop Eco-friendly Method To Tackle Oil Spill
National Institute of Ocean Technology has come up with an eco-friendly mechanism to fight oil-spills in seas and oceans. Scientists devised a crude-oil bioremediation technology, which uses a group of marine-microbes wheat bran inactivated on agro-residue bacterial cells. Reportedly, the hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria uses petroleum products as its energy source. The study further found immobilized bacteria had a more efficient oil-degrading capacity as it removed 84% of oil-spill within 10 days.
