Indonesia Detects Indian COVID-19 Variant; Bans Public Gathering On Eid
The Indonesian authorities have raised an alarm after they recorded first case of ‘B.1.617’ COVID-19 variant first detected in India. Reportedly, two cases have been detected who contracted the deadly virus. Taking a precautionary action, the officials banned Eid al-Fitr gatherings. They have already banned fresh visas to foreigners who have been to India in past 14 days. Notably, with a positivity rate of 12%, the variant is highly infectious.
