Infineon Opens New Plant In Austria To Reduce Chip Shortage

Amid the global chip shortage, Germany's Infineon inaugurated its new plant, Villach Factory, in Austria on September 17, spending 1.6 billion Euros. Reportedly, the manufactured chips will be thinner than human hair, and the company is also expected to generate 2 billion euros from Villach. ''Our timing in adding new capacity couldn't be better, considering the growing demand for power-management semiconductors,'' CEO Reinhard Ploss said before the opening ceremony.
