Internet Giants Say Pakistan's New Censorship Law Worrisome
Global internet giants have warned Pakistan that they would leave the country over the new 'Removal and Blocking of Unlawful Online Content' legislation. Under the new censorship law, any content defaming Islam, promoting terrorism, hate speech, pornography or alike should be deleted within 24 hours otherwise the company will be fined $3.14 million. The Asia Internet Coalition said they were “alarmed by the scope of Pakistan’s new law targeting internet companies.”
