Islamic Body Expresses Resentment Against Imposing Bhajans & Surya Namaskar On Muslim Students In Schools
Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, expressed resentment against making students chant bhajans and asking them to perform ‘surya namaskar’ in schools. MMU, an association of around 30 Islamic religious and educational organisations in Kashmir, seeked for the ban of such impositions, stating that it is hurting the religious sentiments of Muslim students. Former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti also commented on it, calling it “Hindutva agenda in J&K”.
