Japan to Elect New PM Following Shinzo Abe's Exit
Japan plans to hold a special parliamentary session on September 17 to elect the successor of Prime Minister (PM) Shinzo Abe. Reportedly, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will be deciding when to choose their next leader in its General Council meeting on September 1 and plans to meet its members before September 15. Three of the party’s senior leaders have shown interest in contesting for the PM post.
