Japan: Ruling LDP Invites Women At Meetings But Only As Observers
Japan's ruling party, after facing severe criticism over gender disparity, has allowed females to join board meetings. The Liberal Democratic Party has allowed 5 women to join the meetings. However, the female lawmakers can only be observers, and they would not have right to speak during discussions. In the recent past, the party has been flaked for having men-dominated board. Notably, Japan is ranked 121 among 153 countries on the 2020 Global Gender Gap Index.
