J&K Soon To House World's Highest Railway Bridge On River Chenab
Jammu and Kashmir will soon house the world's highest railway bridge, an infrastructural marvel arching over river Chenab. Christened as 'Chenab Bridge', the Konkan Railway's upcoming "engineering milestone" will also be India's first cable-stayed railway bridge. Recently, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, through Twitter, shared the images of the bridge's steel arch approaching closure. Constructed under Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project, the bridge, 35 metres taller than Eiffel Tower, stands 359 metres overhead Chenab's river bed.
