Karnataka HC Says No to Cutting of 8500 Trees in Road Widening Project
The Karnataka High Court restricted the Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDC) from cutting down 8,500 trees for widening of roads. The court on hearing a PIL against cutting trees on September 1, asked the GKVK University to analyse which trees can be saved. There is another proposal to construct the Peripheral Ring Road which connects Tumkur road and Hosur road. The said project would cost Rs 15,111.42 crore and over 33,000 trees have to be cut.
