Karnataka: Land Reforms (Amendment) Act Passed; Opposition Criticises Move
Karnataka State Assembly on September 26 passed the 'Karnataka Land Reforms Act (Amendment) Bill 2020'. The bill allows 'non-agriculturalists to buy agricultural land' and drops the clause regarding the 'income limit to buy land'. While opposing the bill, opposition leader Siddaramaiah said that the state government was acting under the pressure of corporate lobbyists and former CM H D Kumaraswamy said that it has caused anxiety in farmers.
