Karnataka-Maharashtra Border Dispute Intensifies After Ajit Pawar's Comments
Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa slammed Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's statements regarding incorporation of Belgaum, Karwar, and Nipani regions in Maharashtra. Yeddyurappa asked Pawar not to "incite fire" and said, "Marathi-speaking people are just like Kannadigas, they too belong to us." Earlier, Pawar had endorsed the idea of a united Maharashtra on Bal Thackeray's death anniversary. The three regions having a large Marathi-speaking population were merged with Karnataka as per Mahajan Commission report.
