Kerala's 6.8-KM-Long Alappuzha Bypass Inaugurated After 4 Decades
The Alappuzha bypass on NH 66 in Kerala finally got inaugurated on January 28, almost after four decades. CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari jointly inaugurated the bypass via video conferencing. While the foundation of the 6.8 km bypass was laid in early 1980s, its construction was started only in 2005 due to financial and land shortages. Moreover, the two-lane bypass, built at Rs.348 crores connects Kommady and Kalarcode.
