Kolkata: 16-Year-Old Loses Life After Four-Storeyed Building Collapses

A 16-year-old boy, identified as Vishal Mandal, lost his life after a four-storeyed building collapsed in one of the busiest areas of Kolkata. The building was located in Burra Bazar's Noormalohiya lane. The deceased was the son of a former Revolutionary Socialist Party member Ajay Mandal who has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just days ago. Besides, an eyewitness told that one person was critically injured as well, and was rushed to the hospital. Sources informed that the building required maintenance for a long time but it was delayed. A local BJP leader Kishan Jawar reached the spot and told reporters that they had repeatedly raised the issue of the building's maintenance but it remained unheard. A fire brigade team reached the site and undertook a rescue operation. A police team with Deputy Commissioner had also reached the spot to investigate the matter.
