Lok Sabha Nods to Include Hindi, Kashmiri, Dogri in Official Languages of J&K
The Lok Sabha on September 22 has passed the 'Jammu and Kashmir Official Language Bill, 2020'. The bill proposes the recognition of Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi as official languages of the Union Territory, apart from English and Urdu. Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy, citing 2011 census, said Kashmiri is spoken by 53.26% of the population of the UT; still, it was not recognized as the official language.
