Maharashtra: Alarms Raised as Heavy Rain Increases Water Level of Wainganga
The continuous heavy downpour has increased the water level of Wainganga river, raising an alarm for Maharashtra's Bhandara town. Besides, the Pench River and the Kanhan River are also flowing above the danger mark, due to which the routes from Ramtek, Nagpur to Parshivani and Savner have been closed. Meanwhile, the heavy rains have increased the water level at the Gosekhurd Dam as well. According to News18 Lokmat, "In Ramtek, the gates of Totla and Navegaon Khairi Dams have been opened by 5.5 meters for the first time." One of the locals of Bhandara town said, "I think it is not the amount of rainfall but the indiscriminate constructions that are responsible for this calamity as these are blocking natural water drainage paths and disturbing the topography of the land."
