Maharashtra: CBI Lodges Case Against Ex-Minister Anil Deshmukh
The CBI on April 24 booked former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for allegedly forcing policemen to extort money from pubs and restaurants. Filing a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the CBI has also been conducting raids at several places in connection with the case. Earlier, the Bombay High Court, on appeal of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, had handed over the probe to the CBI.
