Meghalaya: Anti-mining Protest Turns Violent; 7 Police Personnel Injured
A protest against a limestone mining project in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills turned violent on November 21, leaving at least seven police personnel, including women constables, injured. The violence broke out after protesters rushed to the public hearing site and started throwing stones. The police resorted to tear-gas and stun grenades to bring the situation under control. Reportedly, over 1,000 people had gathered to the site.
