Minister Gadkari Mandates E-Vehicles For Govt Officials

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, at the 'Go Electric' campaign on February 19, announced his department would mandate electric vehicles for its officials. Aimed to encourage the use of such vehicles besides curbing pollution, Gadkari said that fuel worth Rs 30 crore/month could be saved in Delhi with just 10,000 electric vehicles. Moreover, he emphasized the electric alternative over fossil fuels, as the latter has an import bill of Rs 8 lakh crore.
