Ministry Of Health Advises 14 States, UTs To Accelerate Establishment Of New Medical Colleges

Centre directed 14 states and UTs on July 28 to expedite the use of central money for "establishment of new medical colleges connected to existing District/Referral hospitals" recognized under Centrally Sponsored Scheme. Since 2014, 157 new medical colleges have been approved under this program, in three phases. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has encouraged states to hasten physical completion of projects so that UG courses can begin academic year 2023-24.
