Mucormycosis Declared Epidemic In Rajasthan As Cases Cross 100 Mark

Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government on May 19 declared mucormycosis or black fungus as an epidemic as the cases continue to rise in the state. Over 100 cases have emerged mostly in districts of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Sirohi and Kota. After the declaration, every case will now be vigilantly reported with an "integrated and coordinated" treatment along with COVID-19. Mucormycosis is a side-effect in critical COVID patients who are on oxygen support.
