Mumbai: Rs 44-Cr Fine Collected From Residents Flouting COVID Norms
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's data has revealed that Mumbai residents have paid Rs 44 crore as fine on account of flouting COVID-19 norms. The fine was collected via combined working of the BMC and Mumbai Police along with railway authorities. Reportedly, on March 20 alone, people paid more than Rs 42 lakh fine for not wearing masks and defying COVID rules. Besides, the Western Railways collected Rs 8.83 lakh during March 1-6 from 'no-mask' passengers.
