Murders in Mexico Hit New High amid Pandemic

Mexico’s homicide rates have been rising every year and they hit a new high in the first half of 2020, according to government data. A staggering 17,439 murders have been recorded in the first six months, with women becoming frequent targets. Gang violence has plagued the country for many years now and successive governments have been unable to control it.
