NBA Playoffs Boycotted: Players Refuse to Play in the Wake of Jacob Blake Shooting
Following a virtual meeting between the NBA Players Association, team executives, and NBA top brass, the players decided one after the other to not take the court and compete while urging NBA team owners to be more proactive in social causes like racism and police brutality against the Black community. As of now, three playoff games are postponed, further details about the future of the playoffs are still unfolding. The boycott came in the wake of the shooting of an unarmed African-American man named Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Blake was shot seven times in the back in the presence of his children. LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, other top superstars, broadcasters, and TV presenters also stood by the players as they demand justice.
