Nepal shuts 18 gates of Gandak barrage, disrupting repair works in Bihar

Nepal has set up barriers in the India-Nepal border in Bihar, and shut 18 gates of Gandak barrage in its territory, preventing Bihar from carrying out the repair works of river embankment. Along with Gandak, the barriers pose hurdle for works in Lalbakeya river in East Champaran district and Kamala river. Constant flow of water can massively obstruct the repair work, and "Bihar will be flooded in rainy season", said Bihar's water resource minister.
