New Education Policy; Guidelines to Ensure Higher Standard of Education

The New Education Policy (NEP) implemented by the Union Cabinet, apart from the introduction of new subjects and languages, lays down guidelines for the Institutions regarding the management of their finances. To ensure a better quality of education at all levels, the Cabinet mandates the schools to maintain a student-faculty ratio of 30:1, and 20:1 for the higher educational institutions. The private funding is now required to be channelized in different areas like scholarships, infrastructure funding, faculty recruitment, professional development of teachers and progress in technical and other aspects of tertiary education. The change in the policy has set investment priorities of institutions into resources like books, magazines and in-building libraries which would help enhance foundational literacy, quality education and Holistic development. Also the Angadwadi workers will now be put into substantial development and training, which would boost the educational sector as a whole.
