New York's 101 Avenue Co-named As 'Punjab Avenue' To Honour Punjabis
To honour the services and presence of Punjabi community, the 101 Avenue of New York City has been co-named as 'Punjab Avenue'. Council Member Adrienne Adams, who supported the motion in the New York City Council, inaugurated the new name for the street. Recalling Punjabis' efforts to build the Richmond Hill, Adams stated, "This community has been underserved, not really recognized... Invisible, which is a travesty."
