NIA Court Sentences 29-Year Jail To Jamat-ul-Mujahideen's India Head
The NIA’s (National Investigation Agency) special court in Kolkata on February 10 sentenced 29-year jail to Bangladesh-based terrorist organization Jamat-ul-Mujahideen’s India Chief Kausar alias Boma Mizan in a bomb blast case. Besides, the NIA court fined the convict with Rs 35,000 following conviction under IPC Section 120B & 125, section 16, 18 and 20 UAPA Act and section 25 (1B) of Arms Act & Section 14 of foreigners act. Reportedly, the case dates back to October 2, 2014, when an IED explosion took place on the second floor of a building in Khagragarh locality of West Bengal's Burdwan district. As per sources, the explosion accidentally went off during its fabrication, killing two members of Jamat-ul-Mujahideen. A subsequent investigation by the NIA taken over from Kolkata police revealed a conspiracy by the same organization to radicalize, recruit, and provide training to its members for anti-national activities. The investigation has so far led to 30 arrests from 33 charge-sheeted accused. Previously, the NIA had charge-sheeted Kausar in another bomb blast case in Bihar's Bodh Gaya.
