Nine Awarded Capital Punishment Over Gopalganj Hooch Tragedy: Bihar
Special excise-cum-ADJ-II court in Bihar has awarded death sentences for nine convicted in the Gopalganj illicit liquor tragedy. Occurred in August 2016, the mishap had killed 19 people in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, while six others had lost their eyesight. Reportedly, the 14 accused, including one dead and four women who were awarded life imprisonment, were involved in the trading and smuggling of illicit liquor after the state was declared a 'dry state'.
