Over 500 Experts Urge Environment Ministry to Withdraw EIA 2020 Draft

More than 500 academics, scientists and researchers have written to Union Environment Minister on September 2 to revoke EIA 2020 Draft Notification. Citing Vizag and Baghjan incidents, they noted the ineffectiveness of the EIA 2006 notification. They opined the Draft Notification will "promote industrialisation at the cost of the environment". The letter also stated that "limited-circulation and publicity" failed to invite "inclusive public participation" and feedbacks on the draft.
