PM 2.5 Exposure Causing High Pregnancy Loss In South Asia: Study
A modelling study published in the 'The Lancet Planetary Health Journal' has reported that air pollution in South Asian countries causes around 3,49,681 pregnancy losses per year. It added that the region accounted for 7% of the pregnancy losses due to PM2.5 concentrations. The report revealed that fine particles present in air crosses the fence of the blood placenta and destroy the embryo. Moreover, the pollution-caused diseases also increase the risk of pregnancy loss.
