PM Modi Mourns Death Of Padma Shri Laureate Activist D Prakash Rao
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 13 sent out his condolences on the demise of an eminent social worker and Padma Shri D Prakash Rao. The 63-year-old social activist was hospitalized in Cuttack over-breathing issues where he later tested positive for Covid-19. The PM said, "The outstanding work that has done will continue motivating people." PM Modi appreciated Rao for his excellent contribution to rural education. Cuttack-based Rao, after winning the Padma Shri award said, "Today, I am a Padma Shri tea-seller." Rao earned money by selling tea and used his earnings to educate slum kids free of cost. He even set up a school named ‘Asha Ashvaasan’, where he offered education to nearly 70 slum-dwelling children by spending his 50% of the personal exertions for the noble cause. Moreover, Home Minister Amit Shah and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed their grief for the philanthropist.
