Police Brutality: Beat up Farmer and Family, Victims swallow Pesticides

Rajkumar, a Dalit farmer and his wife Savitri, in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, tried to commit suicide by swallowing pesticides after the police brutally attacked them with lathis and ran bulldozers over their crops in an attempt to destroy it. It is said that the family had acquired a loan of two lakh rupees to grow crops on the land, and their only way of repaying it is through cultivation. The land had been allotted to build a Science College which was due since the past eight months, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar. Later, the police beat up and manhandled Rajkumar's family including his younger brother and wife, over resistance to not damage their cultivated land. The couple was later hospitalized and is now undergoing treatment.
