Russians voted overwhelmingly by endorsing the political decision to let Vladimir Putin to stay in power half-way to the next decade. Citizens went to polls to vote in a nationwide referendum on constitutional amendments. The vote paved the way for Putin to remain president until 2036. The real purpose was not mentioned in the referendum, framing it as a return to old-fashioned family values.
