Protesters Invade President's Residence; PM Summons Emergency Meeting: Sri Lanka
Thousands of demonstrators who were asking for the resignation of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa scaled security barriers and invaded his official mansion. They scaled security barriers to get inside, dodging tear gas and water cannons as Rajapaksa departed the premises. The military and police were unable to control the mob. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has convened an emergency meeting of party leaders to examine the issue.
