Pune Court Rejects Cutis' Suit Against Serum Institute Over "Covishield" Name
A Pune court has rejected Cutis Biotech’s claim seeking the Serum Institute of India to drop the use of trademark ‘Covishield’ for its COVID-19 vaccine. Rejecting Cutis’ application, the court observed that the company had approached it with "suppressed material facts". However, Cutis decided to challenge the decision in the High Court. Earlier responding to a notice, the SII stated there was no case of trademark confusions as both the companies operate in different categories.
