Punjab Amends Law Of Death Penalty To Counterfeit Liquor Sellers

The Punjab cabinet, by amending the Punjab Excise Act, 2014 has initiated death penalty provision for those selling spurious liquor in the state. Amending various sections, the act makes culprit liable for death penalty or life imprisonment besides fine by Rs20 lakh. Moreover, while for the disabilities the perpetrators will be liable for minimum six-year imprisonment with Rs 10L fine, even for cases of no injury bears Rs 2.5L fine and six month jail.
