Punjab Kings Demolish Mumbai Indians As KL Rahul Strikes Hard
After suffering three consecutive defeats earlier this IPL, Punjab Kings made a huge comeback registering a nine-wicket win against Mumbai Indians on April 23. Opting to bowl first, Punjab restricted Mumbai at 131 runs for six wickets. Although MI captain Rohit Sharma scored 63 runs off 52 balls, the pace of the team's inning was so slow that the Mumbai Paltan could not move the mountains. On the other hand, Punjab bowlers kept a strict hand on runs as Mohammed Shami and Ravi Bishnoi cracked the backbone of MI batting lineup by taking two wickets each. Chasing the low-score target of 132 runs, Punjab played strategically, keeping an eye on its wickets. With the anchor role of skipper KL Rahul (52-ball 60-run) and composed inning of Chris Gayle (43 off 35), Kings were able to clinch the target in just 17.4 overs. With this win, Punjab has now secured 5th place at the points table while Mumbai is standing at 4th.
