Punjab's Calypso Power Foils Dhawan's Consecutive Century
With a five wicket win over Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab have beaten the three table-toppers - RCB, MI and DC - in their last three encounters and scaled to 5th spot. Chasing a below-par target of 164, Kings did not start well as their 'Orange-capped' skipper KL Rahul got out soon. Later, the Gayle storm started well but was bamboozled by Ashwin. However, calypso-king Nicholas Pooran kept the scoreboard ticking coupled with playing glam-shots. When Pooran was out after scoring 53, Kings were in the driving seat with run-a-ball to chase. Earlier, batting first, Delhi could not fully encash the stellar performance of Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 2nd century and became the only IPL player to score back-to-back centuries. While Shikhar scored 106 not-out off 61 balls, rest of the team could gather just 58 runs in 59 balls. This toiled batting by Dhawan was further spoiled by the poor fielding performance of the Capitals.
