Rare Mandarin Duck Witnessed In Assam's Wetlands After 118-Years

The Wildlife Trust survey team has spotted a rare Mandarin duck for the first in 118-years at the Assam’s Maguri-Motapung Beel. Reportedly, the rare white-winged duck, native to East-Asia was sighted in Assam’s Tinsukia district. Interestingly, the distinct duck, also found in Eastern Europe, nests in trees. Elated on its spotting after the Baghjan Oilfield fire, Ornithologists also claimed the accidental sighting might be due to the bird’s tendency of straying from its flock.
