Report Says Deforestation In Amazon Larger Than Size Of Spain
According to reports by Amazon Geo-Referenced Socio-Environmental Information Network(RAISG), 513,00 sq. kilometre rainforest has been destructed since 2000. Shockingly, the deforested area is larger than the size of Spain. As per the report, the all-time high loss of 11,088 sq. kilometre rainforest had occurred between July 2019-2020 only in Brazil. Moreover, the study claimed that the deforestation gathered momentum in Brazil only after President Jair Bolsonaro took charge in 2019.
