Road Secretary Says Govt Will Reward People For Scrapping Old Vehicles
As a part of the proposed vehicle scrapping policy, the government will announce incentives for voluntary scrapping of old and unfit vehicles. Reportedly, scrapping centres will be established through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Road Secretary Giridhar Aramane said, "The government will only play a facilitating role, it will not involve in regulating, controlling the scrapping centres." Earlier, the policy was introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to encourage "fuel-efficient, environment-friendly vehicles".
