S. Africa Asks Serum Institute To Take Back AstraZeneca COVID Vaccine
The South African government has requested the Serum Institute of India to withdraw one million shots of its COVID-19 vaccine 'AstraZeneca'. The country has reportedly stopped the rollout of the vaccine after finding it provided only mild to moderate protection against the African variant of coronavirus. Moreover, South Africa will now use Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine for its health workers. Recently, on February 15, the WHO gave emergency use approval for the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine.
