SC Collegium Anulls Proposal Granting Permanency To Bombay HC Judge

Following Bombay High Court's regressive verdicts on child sexual offences, the Supreme Court collegium annulled its recommendation to delegate Justice PV Ganediwala as a permanent judge. Justice Ganediwala, an additional judge at the Bombay HC, had made headlines for her controversial Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) acquittals. Reportedly, public condemnation surrounding the sexual assault adjudications forced the collegium headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde to withdraw its proposal.
