SC Lashes Out At Election Commission To Re-Notifying Local Bodies Polls, Says Can't Do That

The Supreme Court, reviewed a petition filed against the rescheduling of Maharashtra Local Bodies elections.  It criticised the Maharashtra Election Commission for re-scheduling polls for 367 local bodies, which was notified to grant OBC reservations, earlier. Furthermore, the Apex Court said election commission cannot interfere with polls, already notified. The top court said, "Election commission cannot re-notify polls and if they do, it'd amount to contempt of court."
