SC Permits NGO To Challenge Anti-conversion Laws Of MP, Himachal
Citizens for Justice and Peace, an NGO, has received the Supreme Court’s nod to challenge the anti-conversion laws in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The NGO's original plea had questioned the passage of the contentious law in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Besides, the court has also granted permission to ‘Jamaiat Ulama-i-Hind’ to intervene in the proceedings. Earlier, the Muslim body alleged that the laws were aimed at harassing Muslims, violating fundamental rights of citizens.
