SERB Confers Women Excellence Award 2021 To Four Young Scientists
Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2021, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has conferred four young women fellows of National Science Academies with a prestigious one-time honour. Dubbed the SERB Women Excellence Award, the prize entails a three-year-long research grant of Rs 15 lakh for women scientists under the age of 40, who have earned recognition from one or more national academies. The recipients comprise Dr Shobhna Kapoor, an Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay, working in Chemical Biology domain with proficiency in 'Host-Pathogen Interactions and Membrane Biology; Dr Antara Banerjee, a scientist from Mumbai's National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, covering health sciences with specialization in signal transduction; Dr Sonu Gandhi, from Hyderabad's National Institute of Animal Biotechnology pioneering in bionanotechnology with a focus on nanosensors and Dr Ritu Gupta, Assistant Professor at IIT Jodhpur working on nanotechnology with prowess in materials science.
